We’re a friendly practice here at Easter Ross Vets. So we decided to throw a party for our local farmers in June.About 75 farmers from the Easter Ross region joined us for a Ceilidh and social at the Royal Hotel in Tain.We welcomed everyone from cattle and sheep famers to horse owners and crofters.Farmers and their partners enjoyed a three-course dinner with our compliments. And Practice Principal, Paco Morera, told a few hair-raising stories about his life as a vet. And Ian Urquart from the pharmaceutical company MSD (who co-sponsored the event) gave a short talk about BVD. This is the cattle disease that the Scottish Executive aims to eradicate in Scotland this year. Then we ended with a Ceilidh with music provided by our staff – and later by some of the farmers too. Paco says: “Nothing like this has happened in the area for many years. We had people here who might not usually meet – from small crofters, to farmers with 300 head of cattle. They really appreciated the chance to get to know each other.
“We know they liked it because our phone hasn’t stopped ringing with people saying thank you. And yes we do plan on doing this again soon!”
